One more thing before I go! (OK, maybe two...) Valentine's day in Japan is a day on which women give men gifts. It's like, Honor The Man With Your Love And Other Presents day (We can call it HTMWYLAOP day). Which may make some of you think "Allll RIGHT!!" and make others of you feel cheated. Which is why there is White Day on March 14th, on which men give women gifts. Way to stretch the holidays out, eh? For those who prefer a more traditional Valentine's day in which the couple honors each other-- that's what Christmas is for. Seriously.

The other thing was-- on every toilet handle, there are two symbols. One for 'BIG' and one for 'little'. You push the handle in one direction or the other depending on the size of your deposit. How funny is that? Maybe it's a good idea, ecologically speaking... but that's what the expression, "If it's yellow, let it mellow; if it's brown, flush it down" is for.

Have to go before I break the bank on inernet fees...

Endrene, I suppose I never told you not ride a bicycle drunk?
Once apon...whence working as a concrete finisher, I completed a longish day and went to a friends house waiting to go mountain (coolie) biking (it was lethbridge). Well working hard, not eatting and drinking a few Beer may be quite enjoyable but does not mix well with bikes. SOOO, I brightly decided I NEEEED FOOD, so we rode our bikes to the corner store where i feasted on donuts of some substance. AND then started to ride home with a chocolate bar in one hand and my handle bar in the other. Well the rest of the fellas decided to Pop Wheelies and continue down the road... I did the same, sort of. THe wheelie became an odd circus trick as they are not easy to perform with one hand.... and even harder with no hands. So as the bike fell, I kina jumped in the air lest I loose the grip on my Chocolate. Instead of you know grabbing the handle bars i jumped in the air, landed on my bike and bent my Crank (the thing attached to the peddals). SO when i carried the bike to my friends house with a few giggles from the lads, I had another pop, used a crowbar to (sort of) straighten the wheel and went off with the lads for the "real mountain biking... with two hands.
I hope your teaching gets more comfortable. It takes a while to get a rythm, and also torealize what problems you own and which problems your students own. You cannot be responible for their choices or the results of their choices...IT SUCKS, I always want everyone to work at their tasks, have fun but not be disruptive... This can be a lofty goal. Perhaps ask to speak to the student(s) individualy outside of the class this often makes them feel you are speaking to them not at them, and lets tham know their behaviour is not OK and that they own their learning, and effect others learning... or just ignore the baddies... Praise the goodies (i don't totaly believe in extrinsic motivation...but it sometimes works to reward really good work) I know you didn't ask for advice , but I don't ride my bike drunk anymore:) Thanks for the Post card thinger it was cool, nice hampsters. Are their any galleries you have spied in Town???
Cheers...
PS Jess likes Sake, we tried it in Austrailia... nice and warm.... mmmm
Can you get ingredients for North American food? Some? I can send you recipes if you wouuld like... MMM Food.
PSS. Valentines was fun here as well. Jess told everyone at work that (we) never do anything for Valentines... (KEG MOST YEARS, GONE ON VACATIONS, MADE HER AWSOME DINNERS WITH FLOWERS AND MUSIC, WROTE HER 2 BOOKS) Come on now. Silly girl. I think i might like the Japanese Method it put some Onus on reciprical responsability.
Cheers,
Happy Valentines

Thanks Ryan! Good to have the advice of another teacher. I think it will all get better with practice, but it doesn't stop me from being apprehensive for next time.

Thanks for the advice, and my love to you and Jess! (And I won't pop wheelis with a drunken head and a chocolate bar, I promise)!
